Let's give this blogging thing a shot

-Four home games into my first year as a Bills' season ticket holder, and I've yet to see the team trail at home before the clock hit 0:00. It's been a strange trip to 2-4. The Denver and Dallas losses felt like they should have been wins, the win over the Ravens felt like it should have been a loss, and the blowout losses on the road felt like they should have counted for 2 or 3 losses apiece. So the Bills find themselves in 2nd place in what would easily be called the worst division in the NFL if not for the ridiculous things happening in Foxboro right now.

-Wrap your brain around this for a moment... Tom Brady has thrown 27 touchdowns while the Bills QBs have combined for 1. But, in large part because it was the vaunted Trent Edwards to Michael Gaines aerial assault combo that made the magic 6 points appear on the board from 1 yard out, Edwards remains the starter with J.P. Losman headed back to the bench. I don't want to say that the latest QB controversy in Buffalo isn't interesting, but it certainly lacks pizazz. I can't find it in myself to get worked up or even take a side. There are things about each guy that work for me and there are things about each that I could do without. The big story here is that this was the year for Losman to earn himself a contract extension, something that seemed very likely to happen with the way that the 2006 season wrapped up. That said, somewhere around halftime of the Bills' loss to Pittsburgh in Week 2, I found myself wondering if an extension would ever be justified. I was ready to break up with him on the spot, for the first time since he arrived. Time has softened the harsh feelings I had about his future on that day. Since I tend to save the wins on the DVR and delete the losses, I don't have the ability to go back and remind myself what it was like to watch him in that game. Good luck to Edwards, but I think we'll see quite a bit of both guys before the season is through.

-Their record doesn't show it yet, but I think the Sabres are every bit as talented as last year's team. I also think they've got that "nobody outside of this room believes in us" thing working for them again. When all is said and done, they'll be one of the highest scoring teams in the league and they'll be one of the scariest teams to face in the playoffs AGAIN. They had the fun of being regular season media darlings last time around. This time, it's back to flying under the radar, and that's exactly where I want them to be.
