It was really nice to have a Saturday night without them for a change.
I guess it's a combination of things. It allowed me to focus on football for the day. (Buckeyes good, UB Bulls bad, LSU/Alabama amazing.) Also, that egg that that Buffalo laid at home on Friday night against the Panthers was incredibly reminiscent of several Saturday night performances last season and I just wasn't in the mood for another one. I don't know how well documented the 06-07 Saturday night record ended up being while it was happening; I just know that when I was doing pre/intermission/postgame, it rarely felt like work when they'd win but it ALWAYS felt like work when they'd play like crap and lose AND it was a Saturday night. (A quick count shows that 15 of their 29 losses last year fell on Saturday.)
So, long story short, no hockey for me tonight and, surprisingly, no beer either. I assure you the latter will not be the case bright and early tomorrow morning in Orchard Park. I'm pretty excited about this game. That said, only 3 tickets left in the pamphlet for the season, which is a little bit sad. I think tomorrow will be the first time I won't wear shorts to a game this year. It took until November 4th... in Buffalo. (Yeah, global warming is a myth.)
When the Bills were 0-3 and the Sabres had yet to open their season, what sort of odds do you think you could have gotten that at ANY POINT this year, the Bills would be at .500 while the Sabres were below the same mark? It could happen tomorrow. It's also the tailgate party debut of shishkabrads. They're a lot like shishkabobs, except I make them.
