One of those 3 spots automatically goes to either CAR or WSH for winning the Southeast Division.In order to get into the playoffs, BUF must earn all 4 points to get to 92 points and 40 wins. They must also pass 2 teams in the process. These 2 teams can be BOS/PHI or BOS/WSH(or CAR) or PHI/WSH(or CAR.)
HOW TO PASS:
BOS- BOS MUST LOSE BOTH GAMES (PRIOR TO FINALE AGAINST BUF) BUT CAN EARN LOSER POINT IN ONE OF THEM-- regulation BUF win evens season series- BUF wins goal differential
PHI- PHI MUST LOSE ALL 3 GAMES BUT CAN EARN LOSER POINT IN ONE-- BUF wins H2H
CAR- CAR MUST EARN NO MORE THAN 1 POINT IN 2 GAMES-- CAR wins "WINS"
WSH- WSH MUST EARN NO MORE THAN 1 POINT IN 2 GAMES-- WSH wins "WINS"

TIEBREAKERS:
In the event teams are tied in the standings, the following tiebreakers are applied to determine which team receives the higher seeding.
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
2. The greater number of games won.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
