Yankees Baseball coming to WECK!

The most storied sports franchise in North America will return to Western New York radio exclusively on Hometown 1230 WECK, owner Culver Communications announced today.

In 2009, The New York Yankees will be moving into their brand new stadium in the Bronx, and are on a mission to get back to the World Series. The Yankees off-season acquisitions: C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, and Mark Texiera, have been added to an already-impressive line-up including Alex Rodriguez, Jorge Posada, Joba Chamberlain and, of course, Derek Jeter.

At least 150 New York Yankees games will be heard on WECK, beginning on Opening Day, Monday, April 6, 2009. The first game from the new Yankee Stadium will be aired on Thursday, April 16.

Culver Communications Operations Manager Tom Schuh said, “Acquiring the rights to broadcast the most famous sports team in the country is another important step in WECK's development. Yankee baseball is the perfect complement to the other programming moves we have made to establish our station on the media landscape.”
